East Meets West in Online Booking

Online booking is taking off in Asia Pacific and especially in China.

The lead in online booking adoption has long been held by North America, where usage is standard for most large companies. Online adoption is also growing in Europe, where approximately 10 percent of transactions are now booked online, according to CWT client data for December 2006. In many Asia-Pacific markets, online tools have been slower to appear, because of technical limitations and lower levels of customer readiness. Significant changes, however, are paving the way for a radical shift. This article looks at the development of online booking in Asia Pacific, with a specific focus on China.
