The U.K. Competition Commission ruled that “
significant competition problems” at each of the seven U.K. airports run by BAA Airports
have “
adverse consequences for passengers and airlines.” The commission will decide by first
quarter 2009 whether BAA should sell some of its airports, including London Heathrow. Virgin
Atlantic said it would make a bid for Gatwick if it is for sale.
